Preparing For Death And Helping The Dying

Death is a subject that most people do not like to hear about, talk about, or even think about. Why is this? After all, whether we like it or not, each and every one of us will have to die one day. And even before we have to face our own death, we will most probably have to face the deaths of other people -- our family members, friends, colleagues, and so forth. Death is a reality, a fact of life, so wouldn’t it be better to approach it with openness and acceptance, rather than fear and denial?

Perhaps the discomfort we have towards death is because we think it will be a terrible, painful and depressing experience. However, it doesn’t have to be so. Dying can be a time of learning and growth; a time of deepening our love, our awareness of what is important in life, and our faith and commitment to spiritual beliefs and practices. Death can even be an opportunity to gain insight into the true nature of ourselves and all things, an insight which will enable us to become free from all suffering.

Let’s take the example of Inta McKimm, the director of a Buddhist centre in Brisbane, Australia. Inta died of lung cancer in August, 1997. Two months before her death she wrote in a letter to her Spiritual Teacher, Lama Zopa Rinpoche: “Although I am dying, this is the happiest time of my life!…. For a long time life seemed so hard, so difficult. But when really recognizing death it turned into the greatest happiness. I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on their own death, the great happiness that comes with having recognized impermanence and death. This is quite surprising and unexpected, and extremely joyful. It is the greatest happiness of my whole life, the greatest adventure and the greatest party!”

Inta spent the last few months of her life dedicating herself to spiritual practice. At the time of her death her mind was peaceful, and she was surrounded by family and friends praying for her. There are many similar stories of Lamas, monks, nuns and spiritual practitioners who are able to face death with serenity and dignity, and in some cases are even able to remain in a state of meditation during and after their death. With the proper training and preparation, a peaceful and positive death is possible for each and every one of us.

Mac Mini Will Be Dead Soon

If you have that cute-looking, small box from Apple that fits into any monitor called “Mac Mini”, then soon you may be the owner of a discontinued product. Rumours has it again that Apple has plans to kill the Mac Mini and replace it with something else. The death of Mac Mini has been predicted lot of times, but call it Steve Jobs insistence on a living-room computer or Apple’s love for small, Mac Mini has lived on...

But this time it could be little different... Apple has notified its partners that Mac mini will be soon reaching EOL (End-of-Life) and a newer product, possibly an addition to Apple TV will be launched. Mac Mini is the cheapest Mac available and it has been Steve Jobs favorite for long time. The “Cube” has lived on!! Apple has been working off late on consumer electronics that can be used in homes and living rooms along with TV. Apple TV surely hit that market, but isn’t as popular as one would want. Probably adding a computer and OSX to the Apple TV can help... It will be probably logical to have one product do it all

But the announcement from Apple about this product should come sooner rather than later. The Back-to-School season should be a good time to release the new product and help people make the switch to the cheapest Mac...

So… should I buy Mac Mini now ?

2nd time offence = Jail term + Fine + Court.
Making an illegal U Turn when there ' s no U Turn sign = $70.
Fail to Signal when changing lan es = $70.
Driving at night without headlights or taillights switch on after 7pm = $30.
No Number Plate = $70.
Obstructed Number Plate = $70.
Obscured Number Plate = $70.
Number Plate Of Unapproved Type = $70.

As for Demerit Point system:
Let ' s say you have 0 points on 1st January 2005, and you committed
the offence of Failing to Put on Seat Belt. So now, you will have 3
demerit points and this will last for 1 Year. If during this 1 year
you have no demerit points offence at all, your 3 deme rit points will
be gone on 1/1/2006. But, if during this one year, From 1/1/2005 -
1/1/2006, you committed another offence with demerit points, your very
first offence will be extended for another year until 1/1/2007 .

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink one liter of water each day, we would have absorbed, at the end of the year, more than one kilo of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria that are found in feces. In other words, we are consuming more than one kilo of poop.
However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor, for that matter) because alcohol has to go through a filtering process and then fermenting.
Therefore, remember: Water = Poop
Wine = Health
Hence, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit.

金刚语

念诵修法降咒皆戏论；融摄一切六字即法音。

一切音声无异观音言；声空不二如咒诵嘛呢。

咒语是金刚乘修行的要素之一。咒语是梵文，在音声的范畴里，其重要性等同于形相范畴的本尊
观想。有许多不同类别的咒语，包括明咒`密咒`陀罗尼咒，也有近修咒（mantras of approach)`

成就咒`成就四种业咒。

但没有任何咒语被认为胜过嘛呢咒。它不仅包括了所有咒的功用，也涵盖了其他咒所有的力量和
加持。如伟大的噶玛。恰美（Karma Chagme）等过去博学的圣哲门，无法在佛经中找到任何一个

咒比嘛呢咒更具利益`更精要`更容易修行，所以他们将嘛呢咒当做主要修持。即使只听闻嘛呢咒，
便能从轮回中解脱。例如，有个故事说：

五百条虫正在一个恶臭不堪的坑里挣扎，观世音菩萨有感于它们的痛苦，于是化身为一只金蜂，
发出嘛呢咒的��声从坑上飞过，这些虫一听到六字大明咒的声音，就完全解脱了痛苦而转生天道。

嘛呢咒不是一串普通的字，它包含了观世音菩萨所有的慈悲和加持；事实上，嘛呢咒就是观世音
菩萨的音声形式。现今由于我们的业障，使我们不能真正在其净土亲见观世音菩萨；但我们所能
做的，就是听他的咒音，持诵它，读它，以金色的字优美地写下它。因为咒是本尊的心要，和本

尊无分别，所以上述这些行为会带来大利益。六字大明咒是观世音菩萨六度的表现，如同观世音
菩萨所说，无论谁持诵六字真言，都将圆满菩萨六度，并净化一切业障。

为了持诵这个咒语，先如前述尽可能清楚生动地观想观世音菩萨。观想观世音菩萨心中有一朵六
瓣莲花，上为一满月轮，月轮中央立有一种字[啥]，周绕[��嘛呢呗美��]六个字，像一串珍珠般
顺时针围绕，咒�N放出万丈光芒，供养极乐世界`密严净土及其他一切无数净土。每道光中都带

著许多供养物，例如八吉祥`八珍宝`轮王七保`满愿树`宝瓶等。广大的供养云遍满虚空，供养每

个净土中的诸佛菩萨，由于诸佛接受了供养，你累积了功德和智慧。

所有的光回返，以甘露的形式带回诸佛身`语`意的加持及相随的智慧`力量和慈爱，一起融入观

世音菩萨心中的咒�N。观世音菩萨变得更光辉耀眼，好似藏红花洗净过的黄金。

再一次地，无数道光由咒�N射出，遣除了所有六道众生的痛苦：地狱的焦热及刺骨严寒；饿鬼道
永不满足的饥渴；畜生道的愚痴`奴役和受虐；人道的生`老`病`死；阿修罗道的嫉妒及宿怨；天
道由欢愉迷人的善妙世界，最后坠入三恶道时所经历的剧苦。这些痛苦都被咒�N放出的光驱除，

如同朝阳消融了冬天草地上的冻霜般，所有众生都转成观世音菩萨：先从你周边开始，到最后整

个宇宙都变成普陀山净土。

以这种方式利益一切众生之后，所有的光收摄回己身-观世音菩萨。你身上每一个毛孔都含有无数
净土，每个净土中都��响著六字大明咒音。它的声响遍满虚空，就像打破的蜂巢飞出的数百万蜜

蜂群聚所发出的��声。嘛呢咒音遣除了无明，降服了一切魔，咒音将声闻由禅定中唤醒，带领他
们进入大乘道；咒音供养菩萨，劝诫他们继续利益众生；咒音嘱咐护法护持教法，增进一切利乐。

风声`流水声`火的噼啪声`动物的叫声`鸟的歌声`人声-宇宙中的一切音声-都是六字大明咒振动所
自然生起的法音，声空不二和无生法身的回响，透过持诵金刚语瑜伽的修持，你将不费力地证得
*共与不共成就。

*共与不共成就：共成就是长寿`健康`财产等，以及示现神通的能力。不共成就是成佛，完全证悟
了本俱的佛性。

加持物用法及注意事项略谈

常有师兄問加持物用法，各位金刚师兄肯定会有一些加持物，但如何使用往往不很清楚，请看如下开示：

【除障草】
1.可以放在佛堂的抽屉或清净的地方保存，避免潮湿。
2.发生障碍时:可放在小香炉之烧化之，并吸其除障草之烟、再将其烟在自身周围熏一熏、家里熏一熏、车子熏一熏(一般皆与供养佛菩萨的香炉不是同一个)，能除障碍，驱赶一些欲障碍你的非人类，使周围的气场净化。若怕一下子就烧完太可惜，则可与一些香粉一起烧再吸、熏。
3.放在身上、或嘎乌中、放在包包中(若是放在皮包内，不可把皮包压在屁股下面)，随身佩带，保平安，且能减少障碍。

【药丸(法药)、甘露丸】
1.可放在舍利塔、净盒中后放在佛堂上供养，或装藏佛像使用。
2.可泡在水中喝下，或直接吞下，能清净业障、障碍。泡在水中的方式，可以将其水分赠众人及多处，利益众生。
3.亡者快死前服下，可灭罪，助其往生净土或善道之助缘，减少堕入恶道之危险。
4.可拿去做烟供，供养一切众生，助其得满足、离苦得乐。
5.放入海、湖、河、溪等处，利乐龙王及水族众生。
6.可给畜牲服用，畜牲若无法服用，可泡在水中，让它喝下去。
7.有的甘露一服下，能延长寿命、净除病障、消灾、增长智慧及记忆力。要看那个甘露是修何种法的、何种甘露而定。但每种都有大量利益，只是不同的甘露其主要的功效彼此偏重不太同。
8.放在嘎乌中佩带在颈上，可保平安，减少障碍。
9.甘露丸保存，请避免潮湿。

【舍利子】
1.放在舍利塔中供养。若是其舍利塔是可装藏式的，且也经过了装藏，舍利子放入此中供养之，有极大功德。若舍利塔本身无法装藏，或放在净盒里供养，亦有很大的功德。可把装有舍利子的舍利塔或净盒放在佛堂上供养。
2.人快断气前，可以服食舍利子，若非快死、则不服食。快死亡的人或鸟禽、畜牲等众生若服下，可助其投生净土及善道，避免堕入恶道。而且亦可使上师所为亡者修的破瓦法(迁识法)容易成功，顺利投生净土。若人已死，亦可放入亡者口中(如果那个人口刚好是张开的)，放进去就好，不要去挖对方的口想放到他喉中或吞下去。若那位亡者口是闭着的，则放在对方的嘴唇上即可，亡后8小时之内不可随意碰触亡者身体，以免亡者产生强大痛苦生嗔心而堕恶道。
3.放在嘎乌中佩带在颈上，能保平安，减少障碍。
4.可放在佛像中装藏用。
5.有的上师认为，舍利子一旦放入舍利塔中供养，则不可随意打开。但有的上师则认为可以打开，但虽装舍利子的部份，是否一些上师看法不同，但是对于可装藏的舍利塔的底部装藏封口处、及可装藏的佛像的底部装藏封口处、与及转经轮之装藏，则所有的上师皆一致认为，不可打开，除非你请上师重新装藏及加持。

【金刚结、金刚带】
1.金刚结是一个像是中国结之加持物、上方有打结；金刚带则是一条线、上方亦有打结。金刚结上方应会有一个洞，这个洞是要让金刚带穿入的，然后佩带在颈上。
2.上师施打结时持咒以咒力吹入结内，将力量封存其中。结内有护法及力量，佩带在颈上，能保平安，减少障碍，增加幸折?
3.有些金刚结、金刚带，并非上师亲自持咒吹气进入结内，而是弟子们先打好金刚结或金刚带上的结，然后请上师加持。其二者皆有加持力。甚至是根本就没有结，只是一条线带，若经上师加持，亦有加持力。
4.金刚结、金刚带，其上方原先的那个结，不可拆开，因主要的加持力在该处；但若是自己绑的结(因为打结才有办法绑在颈上故)，则可拆开。
5.若是佩带久了，不小心弄脏了，则加持力亦是存在；不过若是被火烧掉了，烧到完全不剩，则加持力即告结束。
6.如果你只有金刚结，无金刚带，可以自行用一条线带穿过金刚结上的洞，佩带在颈上。如果只有金刚带，则直接绑在颈上即可。若你二者皆有，则可绑在一起佩带在颈上。

【法米】
1.上师之加持米或大法会修法之加持米，可用来佛像开光加持、烟供、撒向四周撒可清净周围气场(撒时可一边持咒较好)。
2.有一种法米是除障米，是用在驱鬼、驱除魔障之用，亦可清净周围气场，而不用在佛像开光加持、烟供之用。
3.加持米或除障米皆可置入嘎呜中佩带，可保平安，消除障碍。
4.皆可煮食，可与一般米一起煮食来吃，亦可给鸟禽、畜牲吃，可消除一些罪障及业障、障碍。若法米数量不多的话，则洗米时建议不要将其拿去洗，只洗一般米就好，到时再将法米与一般米放入锅中煮即可，如此可因为避免法米被水冲走。
5.若晚上睡觉常会碰到鬼魅干扰者，可将法米撒放一点于床边四周，可除鬼障。

【嘎乌】
1.嘎乌一般是一个小盒子，也有中的或大的。小的嘎乌一般是佩带在颈上，里面可放除障草、法药、甘露丸、舍利子、法米、成就者的头发.牙齿.指甲.衣服(小片)、金刚明沙......等等众多加持物。藏人视其为护身盒，因为佩带于颈上之装有加持物之嘎乌，具有保平安，减少障碍，增加福报，据闻藏传佛教之大宝法王神圣黑宝丸，很多西藏人逃至印度时，佩带装有黑宝丸之嘎乌于身，刀枪不入之故事~即子弹会转弯、怎么打都打不中~)
2.有的嘎乌其中可装有佛像，这个像是西藏人们随身的佛堂，西藏人在藏地时有时做生意至远处，因其不忘三宝，所以会用此像随身佛堂的嘎乌，当下放在面前，对其供养、诵经、持咒、念佛、顶礼。
3.嘎乌装好后，要请上师为嘎乌加持。
4.有些上师认为嘎乌一旦封住后，则除非必要，才可拆开，不然不可拆开。但有的上师认为可以拆开。

【金刚明沙】
1.对于亡者：洒在亡者头顶梵穴处(~西藏人说法)，洒在亡者额、喉、心三处(~中国人说法)。西藏人说洒在梵穴，是因为要修破瓦法(迁识法)，因其神识由此处出去，所以西藏人是洒在亡者该处。中国人说洒在额、喉、心三处，这是因为代表清净身、语、意三业。
2.放入海、湖、河、溪等处，利乐龙王及水族众生。
3.洒在坟上、墓土上、墓埤上、人类.鸟禽.畜牲等一切众生的尸体上，无论对方死多久，皆可助其净化业障及恶报，增加投生净土及善道之助缘。
4.放在嘎乌中佩带在颈上，可保平安，减少障碍。可将金刚明沙常带在身上，当走在路上时，若见到众生的尸体，则可立刻洒在其尸体上，助其净业，助其升净土及善道。
5.西藏的金刚明沙，主要以修中阴文武百尊、大日如来(毗卢遮那佛)、阿弥陀佛、红观音...等等度亡法为主。而中国的金刚明沙，多是以毗卢遮那佛大灌顶光真言加持。经典上有记载说可持咒加持沙子，洒向众生，可使众生投生净土。

上述种种说明，乃我亲自请示噶举派的-噶玛噶举传承、宁玛派的-白玉传承之数位上师后之答案，再加上我自己所翻阅的一些书藉所得知的资料，所做之整理。提供各位参考。噶玛洛卓整理

天珠的净化方法

一、将粗盐用温开水溶化，再将天珠置于粗盐水中，大约需要10分钟左右。之后再用冷开水冲净，拭干即可。
　　注意：水温适中，不可过高；且使用粗海盐而不是精致盐，精制盐是化学成品，而天然粗盐本身有吸纳杂志、清除不洁的功用。

二、在阳光下晒二小时左右。

三、以西藏除障草薰20分鐘。

四、用檀香油擦拭。

　　基本上采用上述方式任一项净化皆可，直至天珠恢复原本之光泽时，即是已净化完毕。

四共加行

何謂加行

對佛法有興趣，並且願意信受奉行者，這令上師確實感到欣慰。而修行務必從基礎做起。

什麼是修行的基礎呢？藏傳佛教有一套嚴謹完整的修行方式與次第。

這一套修行次第並不是一開始就有的，而是經由很多祖師、聖者、成就者不斷精進，最後融鑄成一套修行方法，稱為「四加行」。

「四」就是有四種，「加行」就是準備進入佛法之流，轉凡心向道的先前準備工作。

就好像做蛋糕之前，必須要有面粉、蛋、器具，而最重要的是必須懂得制作方法，這些都準備好了，才能做出蛋糕，此譬喻就是「加行」的意義。

四共加行

在進入第一個不共加行之前，必須先修「共同加行」，此乃三乘共有，即小乘、大乘、金剛乘必須共同奉行的教理。

如果不修四共加行，就沒有辦法進入第一個不共加行。因此我們首先針對四個共同加行做討論。

四共加行主要目的在改變我們的想法，以糾正不正確的認知，進而堅固學佛的信心。

分別是

「人身難得」、
「生命無常」、
「業與因果」、
「輪回是苦」。
